We will have annual pot luck, folks have signed up already and the list sent out separately.

  • We draw numbers randomly to determine order you choose.
  • When your number is called, you choose a gift to open; OR you can steal an already opened gift.
  • First number drawn gets to steal after all gifts are opened.
  • Anyone whose gift was stolen gets to steal as well;
    • Even after 1st does his/her steal at the end;
    • So it gets REAL interesting at the end...
  • No more than 3 stolen times per gift - after 3rd steal, it's locked.

172: November 2017 Meeting Minutes

We had 23 models on the table from 17 members present.

We discussed the Christmas Potluck for December's Meeting on Thursday, 21st December.  I'll send out the signup list separately as a reminder...

Since we met at the Pax Naval Air Museum we decided to review and discuss moving back.  Building 2 has been refurbished, however displays have not been returned as the Museum wants to organize them a bit different.  We can meet there if we desire.

The conference room is just too small.  We agreed with only 17 members it was crowded.  That's the lower end of attendance (typically 14-30) so it's really not an option any longer.

A couple of us looked at the open area where we are allowed to set up folding tables/chairs as we need.  The acoustics and lighting are vastly improved with the refurbishment so this may be an option for 2018.  I'll have to change the reservation from the conference room to the open area.  One risk is we may get bumped for a larger event if the Museum desires.  That just means we get pushed into the conference room unless they are nice enough to let me know early of a conflict.  Given we have a couple of members who are docents we should be able to stay on top of that.

We agreed to discuss further at the December meeting when more members are typically present.

170: September 2017 Meeting Minutes

We had 16 members with 17 models attend.

We discussed a group build of the Burma Banshees; late model P-40s (N-1 and N-5) in 1/72nd scale.  Dave graciously offered up decals for the known nose art aircraft and these were distributed to members who wanted to build one for a display next year.  Once shown at the display tables we take our models home and proudly display them on our shelves.

We also discussed a group build of King Kong '33 diorama.  Essentially 4 of us will convert the Revell 1/72nd scale PT-17 to look similar to the aircraft used in the film.  John agreed to scratch King Kong and the top of the Empire State building.  Another display for the show tables and then take them home.
